On September 22-24, 2021, the Congress of the International League of Competition Law (LIDC) was held. It is one of the most important events of the year among antitrust professionals and experts. The Chairman of the Non-Governmental Organization Competition Research Center (CRC) Shershun Serhiy and the Deputy Chairman Boichuk Mykola represented the Organization at the event.
The Congress discussed current issues of the relationship between antitrust law and innovative industries and areas of activity, ranging from the role of non-compete agreements (NCAs) in modern society, the function of artificial intelligence in marketing activities, access to data and its control, patents in value chains. Questions for discussion and debate concerned a fundamental overhaul of competition rules or how they should be applied, whether there is a need for these changes at all, or whether we should focus only on minor modifications and improvements in competition law. In addition, the Congress became decisive for the CRC, as the LIDC Bureau decided on joining the CRC to the LIDC as a Ukrainian branch. Serhiy Shershun and Mykola Boichuk met with the LIDC Chairman Carmen Verdonck to discuss a joint action plan for the future cooperation between LIDC and CRC
